WENVOE PÉTANQUE CLUB - NEWS & EVENTS

Club Visitors

Played boule on holiday in France? Fancy having another go?
Then why not accept our invitation, come down to the Playing Fields on a Sunday morning and join in?
You'll be assured of a warm welcome, some excellent guidance and advice and maybe even a cup of coffee!
We meet almost every Sunday throughout the year (we're by and large a hardy bunch so the weather's got to be very bad for us not to be playing) usually starting at around 10.00.
We generally draw for teams rather than stick to the same ones, which makes for a very sociable few hours.

There's no charge for new potential members who would like to try their hand. You're welcome to have a go on three occasions before you make up your mind, and if you do decide you'd like to join the Club, you'll find details on the Membership page.

We look forward to seeing you.

Wenvoe Welsh Open Triples - Sunday 26th August 2007

Once again, Wenvoe PC are proud to host this Annual event. This year, however, following the expansion of the Terrain, the event will be held at the Wenvoe Arms public house.

WPA National Doubles - Sunday 8th July 2007

Wenvoe PC were proud to host this Annual event.

Glorious weather and an excellent turnout saw the Main competition being won by Neil Dobbins and Phil Bradshaw, with Wenvoe PC members Tony Jellings and Bob Pugh winning the Plate competition.

Photos from the event can be seen here.

Wenvoe Welsh Open Triples - Sunday 27th August 2006

Once again, Wenvoe PC were proud to host this Annual event. 11 teams competed over two morning rounds with the results determining the afternoon's play - with all teams ending up in either the Main Competition, Plate or Consolage.

The Main Competition was eventually won by The Monkstones (Glyn Attlee, Neil Dobbins and Paul Bond) who beat Gwenfo (Tony Jellings, Charlie Schols and Bob Pugh) in the Final.

Photos from the event can be seen here.

2006 Home Nations - Saturday/Sunday 12/13th August 2006

Hosted at the Cardiff Yacht Club over two days, this event was very well-attended and supported. Unfortunately, our Irish friends were unable to attend this year, but we hope to see them next year when Scotland will host the event.

Five Wenvoe players represented Wales (Jeff Ball, Dave Cannan, Mike Jaques, Karen MacLeod and Bob Pugh) and although the results could have been better, the whole of the Welsh team enjoyed the weekend. Congratulations to the England Senior Team who won the main event, and in particular to the England 1 side who were unbeaten in 12 games.

M.P.L. Hereford Open Triples - Sunday 25th June 2006

Wenvoe entered four teams in this ever-popular competition held, as in previous years, at the Hereford Leisure Centre. As usual, the event was superbly organised and run in a very efficient and friendly manner - Full marks to the organisers.
Following the morning's three "open" rounds two of the Wenvoe teams qualified for the RRTS Pool (Wenvoe Raiders - Mike Jaques, Jeff Ball & Glyn Attley (of the Monkstone PC) & Gwenfo - Tony Jellings, Robert Pugh & Charlie Schols) with the Raiders making their way to the Final where, unfortunately, they were just pipped at the post! Gwenfo just failed to make a semi-final place.

Wenvoe Dragons (Dave Cannan, Karen MacLeod and Reg Brice) made it to the Final of the Beddards Pool where they too just lost out, while last year's Champions, Wenvoe 3 (Mike Coleman, Jill French & Gloria Davies) played in the Inches Pool.
